The Dave Thorpe Honda Off-Road centre is comprised of multiple venues over the UK. Mainly utilising Exmoor National Park, Somerset, for our Enduro Days, a Chippenham venue for our Outdoor Motocross Days and throughout the Winter we head to South Devon for our Indoor Motocross Days. We have some of the very best off-road motorcycling venues in the coutry and ensure that every ability of rider can be catered for on our wide range of events. Meet The Team
Dave Thorpe - General Manager
Dave Thorpe, four-time World Champion and one of the UK’s top coaches, is the creator and General Manager for the Off-Road Centre. An incredibly successful motorcycling life, filled with world titles, six British Championship titles (not counting schoolboy and amateur championships), professional coaching and the management of several teams racing at UK and Grand Prix level. In addition to his achievements, Dave is a dedicated asset to the sport and will often be on site to impart his own knowledge with hands on, day-to-day management.
Danny sansom - events manager
Danny is a Sports Coaching & Fitness University Graduate and an extremely valued member of the team. He is a skilled off-roader himself and often competes in local club motocross races, which enables him to guide our customers on to the event that is perfect for them. Danny is your first point of call and is keen to help any rider of any ability on one of our fantastic events. He is mostly bound to the office but is let loose from time to time to help with our group events.
Luke Hawkins - instructor
We are thrilled to have the very talented motocross rider, Luke Hawkins, on our team. Luke is our head instructor at the Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre and has an extensive racing knowledge which he passes on to all customers on our group and 1-2-1 training events. He also currently rides at a professional level and enjoys watching our customer improve on all aspect of their off-road riding when on our events.
Alex snow - enduro competition instructor
Alex is the Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre's Enduro Competition Training instructor. Alex is also Buildbase Honda's British Championship Enduro rider. Alex is a great addition to our professional and experienced coaching team. He passes on his own racing knowledge to all customers on our Enduro Competition Training events and will also assist Luke on our other group events from time to time.
Dave Thorpe, a 4 x World Motocross Champion and owner of The Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre and the very successful Buildbase Honda Motocross Team. Racing most of his life, Dave Thorpe moved to the Honda factory racing team in 1983. He emerged as a regular Grand Prix winner in 1984, and took his first world title in 1985. He also took the overall individual win at the Motocross Des Nations at Gaildorf in German beating American riders Jeff Ward and David Bailey that same year.
He retained his world title in 1986, following a long battle with his team-mate André Malherbe. Unfortunately, a series of injuries prevented Dave from making a title challenge in 1987 and 1988. However, he won his third world title in 1989, following a season-long battle with Eric Geboers. In 2007 Dave Thorpe contested the two round, FIM Veterans Motocross World Cup in the senior class. He won the overall victory at both rounds (Namur, Belgium and Donington Park, Great Britain), giving him his fourth world title. Dave also managed the British Motocross team in the Motocross Des Nations in 1994 which saw a famous victory for Great Britain.

Bookings and payments
All bookings are to be made over the phone with DTHORC Ltd directly on 01404 841278 or via www.davethorpehondaoffroad.com and are on a first-come first-served basis.
Payments are to be made via PayPal or Stripe if booking on the website via Booking Hound or with the following cards only: VISA, VISA Electron, Mastercard, Solo, and UK Maestro. We are unable to accept any other cards. Customer payments will be taken by DTHORC Ltd at the time of booking.
Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre will send out an email confirmation with directions, T&C’s and useful further information attached once the booking and payment process is complete. Bookings will be completed once customers confirm they have read and understood our terms and conditions.
Cancellation of booking by the customer
All requests for cancellations must be in writing and sent by either post or email. Upon receipt either of a letter or email requesting cancellation, Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre will acknowledge said cancellation within 5 days. Until the customer has received this confirmation the original booking remains valid.
The customer will be charged on the following basis:
29 or more days prior to the event start date – 20% administration/overheads fee. The relevant fees are:
Enduro Day - £45.00; Motocross Day - £30; Tuition Tuesday's - £50; Devon Taster Day - £45.00
Up to and including 28 days prior to the event start date – the fee is not refundable or transferable.
During the course, if a customer is unable to continue with training, for whatever reason, no refund of the course cost will be given.
Transfer of the booking by the customer
Requests for changes to bookings must be made in writing and sent by email. On receipt of email requesting a change, DTHORC will acknowledge any changes within 5 days. Until the customer has received this confirmation the original booking remains valid. Changes are at the organiserʼs discretion and while every effort will be made to accommodate them, we cannot guarantee to make these changes. Requests will only be considered if made 29 or more days prior to the course start date and will incur a fee.
Customers may only transfer a course date once, and it must be redeemed within 12 months of the original course date. Customers transferring a course date will be liable for any increases in course cost. Courses are extremely popular and are often booked up in advance. DTHORC cannot be held responsible for the availability of courses should customers wish to transfer dates.
Transfer of booking by the customer will be charged on the following basis: 29 or more days prior to the event start date – 10% administration/overheads fee. The relevant fees are:
Enduro Day - £22.50; Motocross Day - £15; Tuition Tuesday's - £25; Devon Taster Day - £22.50
Up to and including 28 days prior to the event start date – the fee is not refundable or transferable. No changes can be made to bookings up to and including 28 days prior to the course start date.
Cancellation of course by DTHORC Ltd
DTHORC Ltd reserves the right to postpone or cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases the customers booked on this course will be offered an alternative course, or a refund of all monies paid. DTHORC will notify the customer by phone, or via email, at least 14 days prior to the course start date.
As a participant in the Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre Course you will of course be insured for any negligent act of the centre or any of its employees. Please note however, that neither the Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre or Honda U.K. provide personal accident cover for participants and as with any other potentially dangerous pastime you may wish to consider purchasing your own personal accident cover before attending the course. Insurance of the bikes can be covered by taking out our £25 damage waiver. This is a payment that can be paid on the morning of your event or prior to your event taking place. Our £25 damage waiver will exempt you of any damages caused to the bike(s) whilst riding on your event. This is completely optional and riders do not have to take it out. Further details will be sent you via email upon booking.
Customers accept that riding a motorcycle is a dangerous activity. Off-road motorcycle activities take place in varied natural environments where there are hazards and risks to manage. Every effort will be made by the Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre team to provide training in a safe manner. Customers participating on our courses are expected to comply with all safety guidance and instructions given by Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre staff. All Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre instructors are professional and experienced instructors. These instructors may differ from event, to event. However, the guidelines of instruction and event itinerary will remain the same.
If, in an instructorʼs opinion, it is unsafe for a customer to continue on their current course, Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre reserves the right to move that customer to a different training group or bike appropriate to that customerʼs ability level. In the event of such a decision, Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre will not reimburse fees. Customers must be physically fit to take part on a Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre course.
Code of conduct
Your safety and enjoyment are our prime concerns while taking part in Dave Thorpe Honda Off Road Centre course. The customer has a responsibility to mitigate the risks incurred. This means that you should wear all required safety equipment at all times. We provide customers with full protective clothing and safety riding kit to wear. Alternatively, you can use all of your own riding kit however your helmet must be EC2205 or equivalent and in good condition and your boots and gloves must be suitable for off-road use. We ask that you respect yourself, other participants and staff on the course. DTHORC reserves the right to withdraw customers from the event who exhibit disruptive or dangerous behaviour that risks their own safety or the safety or enjoyment of other customers and/or staff. Any damage caused to property or equipment as a result of unruly behaviour will be charged to the customer.
- Enduro Day and Devon Taster Day only; It is mandatory that all UK resident customers bring the original plastic part of their licence to sign on for a DTHORC course. Customers will be unable to participate when riding on the road without first presenting their full licence and will be unable to reschedule or receive a refund.
- All bookings are on the basis that the customer will, at all times, observe the safety regulations set by DTHORC Ltd.
- Customers booking a course agree to fully comply with DTHORC Safety Regulations, Code of Conduct and any other instructions given by DTHORC staff. Failure to observe these rules may lead to exclusion from the course or event. Customers so excluded will not receive a refund.
- Motocross Day only; customers who wish to use their own bikes must ensure that they are safe to use prior to joining the event. If not deemed neccessary to ride by our instructrors, no refund will be issued for the event. However, an upgrade to use our bikes on the day of the event may be offered at a cost of £51.
- Indoor Motocross Day only; customers who wish to use their own bikes (maximum engine capacity of 250 four-stroke) must ensure that they are safe to use prior to joining the event. If not deemed neccessary to ride by our instructrors, no refund will be issued for the event. However, an upgrade to use our bikes on the day of the event may be offered at a cost of £51.

On the day, during our event briefing, we require participants to sign on. From time to time, DTHORC Ltd would like to contact you about products and services you may be interested. You will only receive marketing if you tick to provide your consent.

The data is stored securely and only for as long as it is required to complete the customer’s enquiry. Data is never shared without any third parties without consent. Online payments are processed securely by Paypal. Customers will never be asked to share their bank details or credit card information unless they are making an over the phone payment, in which details are processed at the point of booking and never stored.
